Newell Ranch – American Canyon

Newell Ranch – American Canyon

1 unique battered interior bedrock mortar all by itself next to a spring seep with a couple possible cupules or anvils nearby.

Maybe a half mile from parking. Go 1/8 mile past the old barn and find a social trail that crosses the creek. This mortar is on a little shelf above the creek.

Deep battered interior. Not an acorn grinding mortar. But what?

Hike another couple of miles up to the top (use the North Loop) where you cross into Lynch Canyon. Head out to The Monolith.

Very unusual acknowledgement of Native American presence.

A fantastic 10 mortar site.

The numbers indicate how many mortars we have found at each site.
