Alviso Adobe – Pleasanton

Alviso Adobe – Pleasanton

38 cupule rock.

In 1850 Augustin Bernal constructed his adobe, which still stands, near this cupule rock.

The location represents an instance of the maxim “Follow the Indians to find the nicest place to live.” The site is not far from the confluence of Arroyo Valle and Arroyo de la Laguna Creeks and abutted a shallow freshwater lake in Pelnen times.

These cupule rocks are know to be associated with fertility rites and astronomical observations.

Excellent Native American interpretive materials throughout this park.

The numbers indicate our count of bedrock mortars at each site
