Rocky Ridge Tsektsel

Rocky Ridge Tsektsel   –  Danville

“Six types of rock features have been identified in the northwestern California mountain range.

The features include cairns, alignments, hearth rims, stone circles, rock stacks, and semicircular enclosures (tsektsels).

Combined ethnographic and archaeological research reveals these to be associated with patterns of traditional religious activity involving power quests, ritual and medicinal training, and individual prayer.”

Joseph Chartkoff  1983

Bob helps maintain the enclosure.

Disbelievers will argue this was a hunting blind for local ranchers.

We don’t think so.

We stumbled upon this tseksel quite unexpectedly and were impressed with its setting
right above a year round spring source for Kaiser Creek.

We have also always felt that the top of Rocky Ridge was an obvious power spot…
then, now, and into the future.
Respect it, don’t destroy it. Sit and meditate.
