Curry Creek Milling Station – Mount Diablo
18 Uniquely shaped bedrock mortars, many used for something else besides pounding
acorns. There are no mortar sites on the mountain above this elevation that we know of.

Bob disappears up a little creek about a half hour
walk down from parking along Curry Creek.
Compared to most bedrock mortars, these bowls are humongous.
Back at parking check out the rock circle beneath the tree behind the sign. We imagine it
to be a prayer seat. However, our prayer circle on Ring Mountain may have been built by
a Boy Scout Troop in the Sixties!
