East Goat Rock Camp – Sunol
4 bedrock mortars and a probable housepit
Elevation 1451 ft.
We’d hiked around and through this area a number of times, but it took Jeff’s sharp eyes to find this beautiful site. A picturesque seasonal creek flows nearby in a rocky channel.
Looking over the main mortar rock toward Alameda Creek. A protected basin lies to the left of this rock, which, we believe, could have accommodated a dwelling.
Two of the three mortars on the main rock.
Goat Rock.
This is a great walk up Alameda Creek.
If you dare you can go all the way to Camp Ohlone and beyond.
Wilderness California. Pure and simple.
